Mr. Aloe is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations and performance of the company and its affiliates, CALCAP Financial, CALCAP Properties and CALCAP Asset Management. Mr. Aloe is also Chairman of the company’s Investment Committee responsible for guiding the overall investment strategy of the firm.
Prior to founding CALCAP, Mr. Aloe was a Regional President for IndyMac Bank, where he was responsible for managing the Correspondent Lending Division for the Western U. S. He was a Founding Member of prestigious Sales Executive Council (SEC) and responsible for over $10 Billion in purchased mortgage assets.
Mr. Aloe graduated from the University of San Diego with a B.B.A. degree in Business. He has served on the Board of Foothill Family Services, a Non Profit, and has actively raised money for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He also serves on the Real Estate Committee for the USD Burnham-Moores Program. Ed resides in San Marino, CA with his wife and three children.
Since 1986, Mark has been involved in the mortgage business and acquisition of land and apartment units as a Managing Member of multiple LLC’s. Mark recently spent the last 12 years running various lending activities for IndyMac Bank as an EVP and CEO. Mark's range of responsibilities included overseeing all aspects of sales and marketing, recruiting and training, operations, and strategic and financial planning.
Prior to joining IndyMac Bank, Mark founded a mortgage banking firm, Keros Mozilo Mortgage. His company focused on niche lending for wholesale mortgage brokers. Mark also worked 6 years for Countrywide Financial as a Regional Vice President. Mr. Mozilo earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of San Diego, and has earned the Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) designation.
Mark serves on several boards which include; Shelter Partnership of Los Angeles, Wellness Community of San Gabriel Valley and University of San Diego's Real Estate Committee. Mark is also a member of the San Gabriel Valley Young Presidents Organization (YPO). Mark presently resides in Pasadena, Ca. with his wife Michele and three children.
Pat directs the acquisition, disposition, and capital structure for the company’s multi-family and commercial property investments. As a Principal of the firm, he is a member of CALCAP’s Investment Committee, as well as being involved in corporate strategy and hiring.
He began his career with CBRE in 1988 handling leasing and sales of commercial properties, representing institutional property owners such as Ford Motor Company, Allstate Insurance, T. Rowe Price Mutual Funds and Transamerica Insurance. In 1995, Pat founded Landmark Realty Group, a firm dedicated to commercial property investment, syndication and brokerage. During that time, he formed numerous LLCs to purchase apartment and commercial projects throughout the U.S.
Pat is a graduate of the University of San Diego with a B.B.A. in Accounting. As a lifelong Southern Californian, he’s active in a variety of charitable, community, and professional endeavors. Pat resides in the Carmel Valley area of San Diego with his wife and two daughters.
Len Israel brings over 30 years of production, operations, risk management and capital markets experience to CALCAP’s lending business. Most recently Mr. Israel was President of Mortgage Banking at Flagstar Bank, a leading nationwide lender, where he was responsible for all production, operations, and capital markets activities.
He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Finance from California State University, Fullerton and his Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University.
His affiliations include the Financial Management Association Honor Society, Golden Key National Honor Society and Psi Chi National Honor Society.
Mr. Israel holds a California Department of Real Estate Broker's license and the Mortgage Bankers Association designation of Certified Mortgage Banker ("CMB"). Len resides in San Juan Capistrano, CA with his wife, Laura.
Drew has over 25 years of residential real estate, structured finance, and P&L management experience. Most recently, Drew was President of CFS Mortgage Corporation, a mortgage bank based in Arizona. Prior to that, Drew was a founding member of Milestone Asset Resolution Company (MARC), a boutique servicing and asset management firm specializing in construction related finance. Prior to working with MARC, Drew was an EVP at IndyMac Bank and the CEO of the Bank’s Mortgage Professionals Group, which incorporated all of the Bank’s third party lending activities as well as the Bank’s Warehouse Lending unit, and was directly responsible for credit risk management, sales and marketing, compliance, operations, and financial administration. Drew began his career with Arthur Andersen in their Los Angeles and Sacramento offices.
Drew earned a BA from Claremont McKenna College with an emphasis in Accounting and Economics, is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and holds a CMB designation. Drew resides in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife and three boys.
Mr. Holman has been with the company since April 2009. Prior to joining the company he worked in Residential Land Acquisitions for Makar Properties, LLC, a large residential and commercial developer with over $1 Billion in assets under management. Mr. Holman also served as the Urban Infill V.P. of Finance for one of the 50 largest homebuilders in the country. He started his career in 1999 as the Corporate Financial Analyst for The Meyers Group, a Southern California based residential market research and consulting firm.
In his current role as Executive Vice President for CALCAP Advisors, Inc., Mr. Holman is responsible for utilizing his deal underwriting and acquisition experience to seek out stalled condominium, townhome and multi-family investment opportunities. He is also a valuable part of the day-to-day management of the residential assets in CALCAP’s portfolio. Mr. Holman graduated with honors in 1998 from Northern Arizona University with a B.S.B.A in Finance. He also received his M.B.A. from the Graziadio School of Business at Pepperdine University in 2005. He is a licensed California Real Estate Broker and has earned a certificate in Light Construction Development Management from the University of California, Irvine.
Mr. Shakhshir is responsible for underwriting analysis on prospective acquisitions and investment strategy. Previously, his experience spanned over 25 years of accomplishments in mortgage capital markets, fixed income, consulting and investor relations. Most recently, he was a SVP with Bank of America / Countrywide Home Loans responsible for Investor Relations around collateralization and performance for legacy RMBS. Prior to that, he worked for a boutique consulting firm, Quantitative Risk Management, with emphasis on Fixed Income/MBS risk modeling and hedging techniques working with the largest banks and mortgage originators in the US. Mr. Shakhshir’s education and certification credentials include a Master’s of Science degree in Financial Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's of Science degree in Finance from California State University. He is a CFA Level 1 candidate and also holds the Financial Risk Manager certification via the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
Ms. Flores is responsible for the accounting , financial and investor reporting, budgeting and recasting, as well as year- end tax preparation and K-1 distribution. She has over 20 years of experience in the field of real estate property management of shopping center, industrial, affordable HUD regulated and market rate multi-family properties. Additionally, she has comprehensive knowledge of accounting practices and principles for both public and private firms. Prior to working with CALCAP, she was Division Controller for JRK Property Holdings where her and her staff were responsible for the monthly financial packages for 72 properties.
Lani has been a Senior Executive for 30 years, specializing in building operations and technology platforms from the ground up. Most recently she served as Senior Vice President of Operations for American Residential Properties (NYSE:ARPI). There she built the operations and proprietary technology that enabled the company to grow their portfolio of assets to 1.7B and successfully IPO within the first 12 months of operations. Ms. Porter was a founding executive of GetSmart.com, serving as Senior Vice President of Operations where she helped create the first online marketplace for consumer lending. GetSmart.com was ultimately acquired by Barry Diller’s Interactive Corp (NASDAQ: IACI). After GetSmart.com’s acquisition she joined nCommand.com as Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, where she developed an end to end virtual loan process for residential lending. After the acquisition of nCommand by Ellie Mae, she served as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Operations at Accruent, a company whose software products are used in managing over one billion square feet of commercial space for many Fortune 500 companies and large retailers. In addition, Ms. Porter served as Director of Operations for Hometown Commercial Capital where she developed the systems technology and process to underwrite, fund, manage, securitize and sell more than $2 billion in assets. Ms. Porter has served on the Mortgage Bankers Association Governance Board of MISMO (Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization), attended Arizona State University, and completed the Oracle RDBMS Master’s program for Database Administrators.
Greg has over 30 years of mortgage banking experience in both retail production and management as well as wholesale lending that includes warehouse lending products, construction to permanent, agency and Alt A production. Prior to working the last 2 years as V.P., Director of Investor Relations, Greg worked for Rincon Technology, a reseller of network infrastructure. During his 8 year run at Rincon he was responsible for establishing consignment programs for tier 1 carriers as well as selling refurbished network equipment to cable companies, telcos and data centers. Greg was responsible for establishing and maintaining Rincon’s top consignment account.
Early in his mortgage lending career, Greg worked as an Account Executive for Countrywide and helped build the Central Coast branch into the one of Southern California’s top producing branches. After Countrywide, Greg opened and managed the regional office for Keros Mozilo in Santa Barbara that eventually became the company’s top producing branch office. After Keros Mozilo, Greg spent 12 years at IndyMac Bank as V.P. Account Executive where he was responsible for building the production in the CA Central Coast, and focused on Alt A loan products. Greg’s production success led him to become a part of the Sales Executive Committee that consisted of IndyMac’s top producers year after year.
Greg earned in his BA from San Diego State in Communication and currently resides in Santa Barbara CA, with his wife and 2 boys.
